Philippine Loop by Moto Wifi

Moto WiFi on his Philippine Loop Adventure Tour

Traveling with our motorcycle is a very different vibes/experience that we have. But traveling around your country with your motorcycle is a different level. Philippine Looper is a term to a person who is traveling to explore the Philippines given the guidelines of the organizer of the Philippine Loop Adventure Tour which is the ATPI or Adventure Tour Philippines Inc.

If you want to be a Philippine Loop Conqueror you need to be registered as a Philippine Looper. Philippine Loop Registration will be explained thoroughly on our other blogs/article.

The journey of Moto Wifi starts at the Gulf Gas Station located at Barangay Amansabina, Mangaldan, Pangasinan which marks his starting point and his finish line. As the rules of the organizer, you need to start your Philippine loop from a gas station where they issue electronic generated receipt. Below is the picture of Moto wifi as proof that he is on Gulf Gas station and that moment, which is March 10, 2024, at 4:00 am Sunday. He also needs to record his initial odometer reading before starting his journey. And one more requirement is he needs to send the details to the organizers to get a One-Time approval code. His target destination is Vigan City. While his target Checkpoint is the New highest point in Tinoc, it is the highest elevation in the Highway System of the Philippines declared by the Department of Public works and Highways or DPWH. Checkpoints are required locations that every Looper must visit and take a selfie with their Philippine Loop Passport and wearing the Philippine loop shirt or the vest. For Luzon we have the following Checkpoints:

  • New Highest point Tinoc/2nd Highest point Halsema Highway
  • Laoag City
  • Appari
  • Baler
  • Aurora
  • Alaminos City
  • Subic
For Visayas
  • Tacloban City
For Mindanao
  • General Santos City
  • From Mangaldan Pangasinan to Vigan City, he visited Baguio City since it is along the way going to Tinoc Ifugao which where the Checkpoint is located. Planning your itinerary is one requirements of the Philippine Loop. We have our Philippine Loop itinerary Planning Guide blog for those who plan to have their first Loop. His first day of travel is 352 kilometers of ride which is 10 to 11 hours of travel but may differ depending on your your vehicle. Arriving on his target destination he needs to take a picture of his odometer to record how much distance he traveled and write it down on his Philippine Loop Passport on the Ending Speedometer.

As a looper one of the requirements on the album is the 'Hotel Receipts' which is required whenever you go to hotels, but not needed if you are staying with your relatives, friends, colleagues, and others. Please also bear in mind that there is no required/assign hotel by the organizers, you can freely select any hotels you want as long as they can provide you a receipt as a proof that you stayed on that establishment on that specific date. The next day of the journey as Philippine Looper you need to take a photo of your odometer reading as your starting odometer for that day. record it on your Passport and write your target destination, please take note that the target distination is only your target and not necessary to force your self to reach it within the day of the ride. You can add notes on your passport such as 'Checkpoint Reach Tinoc' or which ever checkpoint you have visited. You can also take note some information such as 'I gas up' then followed with the details, this will help you organizer your album which a requirement after finishing your itenerary. As for Moto Wifi, his 2nd day is a 2 Checkpoint goal which are Laoag City and Appari. Base on his starting location for his 2nd day of loop his estimated travel time is 8 hours to 12 hours of travel for a 341km range. Since it is a loop, moto wifi choose to take pictures of the arch where he passes from time to time. And targeted to visit the Paoay Church which is one of the tourist spot along his route. He decided to take a quick break in the Patapat Bridge where it has a stunning view of the ocean/beach. His target destination is the Arch of Apari yet due to some traffic on the road and nature calls he failed to reach the target destination, it total fine since you have an area on the passport wherein you will record you actual destination reach. As for our opinion it is a clever idea to have it since we cannot be sure if we can reach our target destination always since sometimes weather is quite playful in some areas of the Philippines. Since it's quite late to travel anymore and being tired, he decided to book a nearby hotel named 'RedDoorz Plus @ Green Star Park Cagayan' in the booking site agoda with a website domain name of www.agoda.com. Booking online has advantage and disadvantages. One advantage is that you can use your debit card or even credit card to book online, this will save your cash on you for the deposit requirements. One more is that the receipt is digital and safe on your email and account, this means the cance loosing it is very very rare. Another advantage is that is more cheaper on the website rather than on booking via the front desk, but not sure if same case with other hotels. Same scenario after arriving in the hotel, take the final odometer reading and record it in his passport. Since he have not taken his dinner he can go out after changing clothes and buy foods. Just take note that the odometer reading will change this time, it can add some kilometers depending where are you going. that is why taking a photo of the next day odometer reading is necessary to have the correct travel kilometers recorded. going forward to his jour from Appari to Talavera where in he chosen to rest on his Aunt house to lessen the expense, and then Talavera to Bacoor Cavite where in he pause his journey for the loop to have his motorcycle overhaul checked on Laguna. He told us that there are very few expert mechanic for his motorcycle which is a Suzuki Raider J Fi 115. Before he started his loop he already book a schedule with Jesumb Sevilla (Jga humbleworks) facebook profile with a page of JGA Humbleworks By jesum sevilla. It is very important that your motorcycle is in good condition during the loop. Specialy if you don't know any mechanic or shop on your next route. Since he will leave the island of Luzon, he wants to make sure that his motorcycle is in good condition. Since spare parts of his ride is not common on the market, having a trouble along the island of Visayas and Mindanao would be pain the budget because it can be several days to find the spare parts that you need. although your riding days will be paused with you are not traveling the cause of hotel per day will pile up and hurt your budget.
